Why we step back to take responsibility?

Namaste!

Before I start to explain benefits of taking responsibilities in professional path, I must first explain why we imagine a negative result that would probably come to our mind while we are being asked to take the responsibilities and cover the consequences...

Yes, Fear.... In fact, Imaginary fear that stops you and then our own level of confidence turns away from our inner mind which in turn reflects like this:

"oh! no, what if it goes wrong?

-what if my colleagues and friends talk about my result when my attempt is failed?"

Have you ever attempted to notice the incident plotted below in any of your fun events or parties?

When an organiser is calling someone up to be the first and start to play the game or sing a song or dance.... Mostly, we won't raise our hand to initiate the fun!... In this situation, our inner mind always gets struck in between two questions… “why should I start and why am I not starting even though it is pleasure doing it”

Sometimes, we don't start even though we exactly know how to start and execute what organizer is asking for... Yes, this is the one of the weird opinions which we have in ourselves...that always become the reflection from our Imaginary fear...

At some conferences or daily meetings, we don't even sit in the first row Chairs. Basically because of two definite reasons...

1.      We think that the one who sits in the first row will have to be attentive enough to follow the meeting

2.      The one who is visible to organizer will always receive questions… This is definitely not good! Isn’t it?

Now you think, why we circle around these two different points and make ourselves comfortable sitting at the place where we are unnoticed. In order to do a corrective action for these two different opinions on ourselves (if we are one falls under this), we should absolutely be clear on two different aspects of professional behaviours which always help us in any different situations

1.      Boosting Confidence

2.      No problem to say “I don’t know”

Boosting Confidence

Making sure what we do is right, learnt and well executed, without any doubt

Creating an inner good opinion about ourselves that “I am confident today & I know my own strength & weakness” …

·        I am strong on few things today because of my previous experiences where I failed many times to make it right. I also have a very good capability and willingness to teach whoever wants to learn from me (or) lags where I am expertise on.

·        About weakness: Yes, I am not so familiar may be because I haven’t concentrated when I was supposed to learn (or) I am not familiar since I am new to this… at last it is all about having tendency to learn and tolerate failures until reaching certain place where I feel I am confident.

I don’t’ know

When there is a bunch of work assigned  to you and when you verify, few looks new to you and you are the owner to accomplish the same, you start speak up wherever it works out well and convey “I know I am here to do this, but few certain tasks are new to me and I would need some time to complete it”… An indirect response instead of saying “I don’t’ know” will help you to have some space for grasping new things for your new experiments.

When you are strong in something… Be down to earth and make some one learns from you for them to grow

When you are weak in something…. Again, be polite and say, “I need some help”

Dealing with imaginary fear, confidence boosting, asking for help and time are four major components to take any responsibility. Good Result might come slow, but without knowing these four components and its reflections from inner mind, taking responsibility would become a major hurdle in professional life.
